Entertaining, well presented, and very useful

I recently downloaded a couple of other cocktail recipe books from the Kindle store because they were being offered for free. Unfortunately, both of them suffered from bad formatting, and neither had even a static table of contents, let alone one you could click through. This book, by contrast, is a pleasure to deal with because it's so well organized. It's divided into ten chapters, each of which is devoted to one decade of the 20th century. Each chapter includes an entertaining, anecdotal run-down of the decade's major events before going into that era's popular drink recipes. The book is also nicely formatted, and has a proper, clickable table of contents AND and clickable index, so you'll have no trouble locating that Harvey Wallbanger recipe even if you can't remember which decade it was associated with (the 1970's, in case you were wondering). It isn't the most comprehensive drink recipe book ever published, but it has all the recipes that most people will ever need and then some. I'm happy to recommend it.

Great guide to classic cocktails

I really enjoyed perusing this book. Each page was filled with either a classic cocktail recipe or slice of history surrounding it's origins. Now, I look forward to trying some of the drinks at home (it's so difficult to get some of these drinks "correctly" made at many establishments).

This is a good reference work for some typical cocktails and their background from each decade; although the book only contains a few cocktails per decade, it does contain some pretty atypical and unusual ones that are sure to provide flair for your party.

Alexis Anne delivers!

I was SO excited to finally read Greg's story. His character enticed me in the first two Storm Inside books. There was so much more to him and you just wanted to know what was up, and Alexis Anne delivers! Greg's story pulled at my heart strings, and despite his sailor mouth...I LOVED him. Hot chemistry, captivating plot, heart squeezing back story? Yeah. Sign me up again and again!

Woo! Hooray for another steamy romance full of the characters I love!

I'm in awe of this most recent novel by Alexis Anne, and I'm confident that it's my favorite in the series thus far. While it was fun to see the snippets of our beloved Jake and Eve pop up every few chapters, it was wonderful to watch Greg take the spotlight this time in all of his foul-mouthed glory.

Marie is a strong-willed, independent, and self-sufficient mother, and it's so refreshing to find a lead female character with the capability to function (happily!) without a man. THIS is a protagonist I can get on board with. What I love about Marie's relationship with Greg is that a lot of their romantic journey centers around how much she WANTS to be with him. She knows she doesn't NEED him, and I truly believe this speaks volumes about her character. However, at the opposite end of the spectrum, I feel Greg needed Marie in order to save himself from becoming a person even he couldn't recognize. There was so much give and take with these two. They completed each other in ways even they didn't realize they were incomplete.

For a love story with as powerful a beginning as this one had, I'm hopeful to see more of Greg and Marie in the future. *fingers crossed*

Refreshing

I admit - Jake and Eve hold a special place in my heart. BUT, and its a big but, Greg and Marie's story is unbelievably romantic and sweet, with a huge dollop of WTF's (mostly coming from Greg, although, I did say it a few times myself). Not sure why this story struck such a deep cord with me, and I'm not sure I care. It just did. Of course it was sexy and sultry and the usual "I need a quick cold shower before I read anymore" prose that is Alexis Anne, but it was so much more. It was more than two characters growing, and moving past the issues that haunt them. It was a fight to remain true to themselves and who they are, and make THAT work in their relationship. YOU MUST READ!

The term ‘stained glass,’ however, resulted from the later use of silver stain which, upon firing, permeates the glass and actually ‘stains’ it. The glass and lead of stained glass windows sets the stage for a story or concept, and the paint and stain supply the information that defines and communicates that story. Stained glass windows fill our world with the beauty of line and color and can be enhanced with the addition of paint or stain, adding further line and shading for form and definition. Admittedly, it is possible and plausible to design and construct many windows without paint, but eliminating the paint from others would deprive us of much of their beauty, and a vast storehouse of information and intellectual stimulation would be missing. Time and the elements have taken their toll on many of these windows, but those that remain still retain a great deal of the information the painter supplied. Since glass paints are almost as permanent as the glass itself, painting done today will be a part of the glass for a very long time. Knowing this, glass painters have a responsibility to themselves and to the future to see that what is painted on glass now is their best, both technically and artistically. It is hoped that the information in this section will help many in their quest for knowledge and furnish all with a respect for glass painting. Done well, painting can add a new dimension to glass work. It provides the ability to add lines and lettering, create texture and shading, and add some color in selected areas. Before learning to paint it is prudent to know as much about this medium as possible. The history of painting, the technical information about the paints and the tools used, all provide a background to the painting techniques themselves. These techniques, such as tracing, matting, silver staining, and enameling, are basic, but other uses for paints, such as silk screening, air brushing, etc., can prove invaluable in many instances.

About the Author

Robert L. Smith holds a B.S. in Animal Science, an M.S. in Wildlife Biology along with a Ph.D. in Wildlife Biology from Cornell University. Currently, he is a professor of Ecology at West Virginia University. He has spent over 30 years teaching Ecology and conducting field research throughout the world.

His teaching responsibilities have involved mostly undergraduate courses in general ecology and graduate courses in population ecology and wildlife management. His research has included forest-fire related problems in southern West Virginia, vegetational development and succession on abandoned and reclaimed surface mines, the relation between forest vegetational structure and the forest bird community, and forest habitat assessment and habitat evaluation procedures based on vegetational structure.

Smith has served as a consultant to congressional committees, workshops on environmental education and energy and environmental problems, the National Landmarks program of the U.S. Department of Interior, National Research Council Task Forces on wildlife and fisheries issues and ecological classification systems for implementing environmental quality evaluation procedures. He is the author of numerous articles and reviews as well as the author of three ecology texts: Ecology and Field Biology, Elements of Ecology and Ecology of Man: An Ecosystem Approach, Harper and Row, New York.
